ERIN BROADHURST, MUSIC EDUCATOR

“Music has the power of producing a certain effect on the character of the soul, and if it has the power to do this, it is clear that the young must be directed to music and must be educated in it.”  -- Aristotle, Politics

MY PHILOSOPHY OF TEACHING

Music has the power to transport us to another time and place,

to connect listeners and performers of all ages and backgrounds.

My passion is to harness that power to help students connect to each other through the music making process, and to become better people by being part of a musical ensemble, challenging them to achieve excellence at each step, regardless of level.

This is a video I show each year to students to communicate my motivation for music education. It is based on a popular quotation, author unknown, revered by music educators that answers the question, "Why Music?"
